Mixed Media

Hello

Something different for you today. This hanging was created for a class on mixed media techniques.

I began with a piece of corrugated card recycled from a packing carton. It has the top layer stripped off and is randomly painted with gesso, dried and and randomly sprayed with a cola coloured mist. A torn piece of patterned paper is glued to the centre section using a glue and seal product.
A second piece of cardboard has several colours of acrylic paint layered on it, drying with a heat gun between each colour application. This causes the paint to bubble. This is then glued to the background panel and whole piece is then sealed with glue and seal, and mesh ribbon added to the top right and bottom left. A stamped, embossed sentiment (Kaszazz) was added and various die cuts and charms coloured with alcohol ink markers were applied. Eyelets and a hanging wire were added.

Closer views of the upper and lower sections of the piece.

Messy, but lots of fun. Have you tried your hand with mixed media?
Till next time- create
