These are some of the latest journals I have created

This is a stitched journal which had a plain vinyl cover and an elastic closure. I added a page marker ribbon, pockets to the front and back  inside covers and embellished the front cover.

This journal is spiral bound, and had a plain cover. I have covered and embellished the front of the journal and added a pocket to the inside front cover.
There is an elastic attached to the back cover to hold the journal closed.

This is also a spiral bound journal, with elastic from the back to hold it closed.
I have again covered and embellished the front of the journal and added a pocket inside the front, and this time also a scene to the back cover.








Altering a plain journal or notebook in this way makes a lovely small gift.

Small Writing Journals

This is the latest selection of small writing journals created

 

 

 

 

 

These journals have hard covers which we covered with papers inside and out, and then embellished with washi tapes, gems, chipboards, brads, flowers and die cuts. Ribbons were added to the spiral binding. 

These books are small enough to fit in a handbag and make great small gifts.

I was recently given  these gorgeous arty papers,so of course, they had to become journal covers.

I added a page holder ribbon, an elastic to hold the journal closed, a pocket and tags to the inside front cover and a small envelope and card to the inside back cover, to each journal.
Lace tape and a gold die cut butterfly were added to this journal, with gems to the butterfly body and the lace flower centres. Stickles was added to highlight the butterfly wings.

 This journal has a mannequin form, a cameo brad, black glossy wings highlighted with gold flake, a heart brad at the waist, pearls and a gemstone border strip.

 

This cover has metal and card cogs, a heart brad and gemstones added to the design.

Pocket Journals, Notebooks

Hello

This is a selection of pocket journals/small notebooks which have been covered, and will easily fit into a pocket or handbag. Papers used were from Stampin'up. A ribbon page marker has been added to each book.

 
This one is embellished with black adhesive lace tape over red glitter paper and four layers of fabric flowers, two of which have been coloured with alcohol markers, which is held together with a brad.

 

On this cover, dies from Cheery Lyn, Memory Box and IO have been used.

 

The ship in a bottle is fussy cut from paper, some twine knotted round the bottle neck and an anchor charm added.

 

The anchor is a Cheery Lyn die and the ships wheel die is from Kaisercraft.

Much more attractive than a plain old journal or notebook, don't you think?
Each of these cover designs would also make a great card. Just add a sentiment.

Journal Covers - Stampscapes

Hello

I recently had a request for a journal that would be suitable for a male. Here are the first two examples.
I started with a lined journal which had a plain black cover, and have used Stampscapes stamps.

 

 Images were stamped with black India ink on to white gloss card, then coloured with sponged on dye inks. The ship is die cut using a Kaisercraft die and the seagulls using an IO die. Two layers of stamped card have been torn and added to the bottom waves, with the wave tips and the sails highlighted with a stardust pen. This panel was matted to white gloss card, then fixed to the journal front.

 

 

This cover is created the same way but has the addition of a shell brad in the bottom left.
Both journals have a pocket envelope attached inside the front cover, and stamped images inside both front and back covers. Each scene has been built up using a variety of several different stamps.

Covered Journals 2

Hi

Some more journal covers for you today.

   

This book is covered with handmade paper and embellished with  kangaroo and grass tree die cuts. The grass trees were cut from black card, highlighted with metallic markers and coated with glossy accents. Rhinestones finished the design.

 

The front cover was lined with black card folded to include a pocket and a vellum envelope and card tucked in.

 

This one is covered in brocade style paper, has a gold frame with a die cut and coloured grunge paper  flower layered on top, a velvet leaf tucked under, a willow vine wrapped round, a small die cut bird, a couple of rose brads and some rhinestones.

 

This book also is covered in handmade paper, has a punched border, die cut leaves, cage and birds, a silk flower, butterfly brad and a rhinestone corner.

Each of the journals has a vellum envelope and notecard added to the lining of the back cover.

I hope you pick up some ideas from these books and are inspired to dress up some covers for your journals and books.
